People

Caring Hands endeavour to provide the highest level of service and care possible. This is achieved through a selective recruitment process, comprehensive induction training and ongoing mandatory courses for all staff.

We operate a stringent recruitment process of interviewing, assessment and appropriate reference checking (including enhanced CRB checks). All staff complete an intensive induction course. Prior to working independently, all new care staff will work alongside an experienced career for a set period to ensure they are suited to the role and competent in the delivery of care tasks.

All care staff are fully trained and monitored both in the community and through regular meetings with their manager to ensure high standards of care are maintained.

Staff Profiles

Ms Christine Mart - Managing Director

Christine Mart has worked in the care sector for over 30 years. Formatively she was a Team Leader in the private sector in Derby City. She has been the Managing Director of Caring Hands for over 24 years and elected a Member of the Institute of Directors in 1996.

Mr Terence Fuller – Finance Director

Terrance Fuller has held managerial positions in excess of 35 years, specialising in financial budget controls. He spent many years working throughout Europe before becoming involved within the Health Care Sector. He joined Caring Hands full time over 24 years ago. He is also a long time Member of the Institute of Directors.

Mrs Linda O’Connor - Company Director

Linda O’Connor originally joined Caring Hands as a community care worker in June 1993. Prior to this, she had assisted disabled students to obtain degree qualifications at a local university. Her hard work, professional manner and commitment lead to numerous senior positions throughout the company. In 1999 Mrs O’Connor was offered a directorship and currently is the Company Director responsible for the day to day management of the company. Linda is the registered responsible individual for the company with CQC. In addition to her role she is also the company’s senior NVQ assessor and has achieved an NVQ level 4 in management.

Mrs Angela Norbury – Compliance Manager

Angela Norbury joined Caring Hands in June 2013. She had previously worked for Lloyds Banking Group for 26 years where she held a number of positions throughout her career, spending 15 years working in Risk and Compliance before taking voluntary redundancy.
Angela has had comprehensive training in Compliance, Risk Awareness and Assessment and Money Laundering and Financial Crime. Since joining Caring Hands she has completed training in Medication Management, Safe Moving and Handling and Train the Trainer Safeguarding Adults.

Miss Lynne Harrison – Accounts Manager

Lynne Harrison joined Caring Hands July 2013. She has worked previously as a Group Financial Controller for the same the same company for over 15 years and prior to that worked as a chartered accountant for 10 years. She holds ACCA qualification.

Mrs Sarah Causer - Payroll

Sarah Causer has worked for Caring Hands since 2007, joining as a Community Care Worker and progressing to Area Care Coordinator before being promoted to Assistant Manager of the Burton Area in 2009. In 2011 Sarah changed her role to that of Wages Manager and is responsible for a small team who report to her.
Sarah is qualified to NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care as well as NVQ 4 in Management.Sarah is responsible for the wages sector for Lichfield, Ashby, Coalville, Burton, Tamworth and Castle Donington within the company.

Mrs Lorraine Achurch - Training Officer

Lorraine Achurch joined Caring Hands as a Community Care Worker in 2002. Since then she has held several posts within the company including Area Coordinator. Her current position as Training Officer gives her responsibility for staff inductions and ongoing training coordination for all staff. She holds her NVQ Level2 and NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social care, as well as having attended the full range of health and social care training. In addition Lorraine has attended specialist trainer courses including Train the Trainer for Dementia Care, Safe Manual Handling and Risk Assessment, Medication Management and Safeguarding Adults.

Miss Rachael Locker - Personnel Officer

Rachael Locker has worked for Caring Hands since November 2005 as a personnel officer. She had previously worked as an insurance clerk and then as Customer Account manager working for Volkswagen before joining us after taking maternity leave. Rachael comes from a customer care and office based back ground. Rachael has shared responsibility for the recruitment, training and supervision of staff. She has completed her training in basic care to get a good knowledge of Social Care.

Mrs Annette Taylor - Service Manager - Ashby /Coalville

Annette joined Caring Hands in 1997. Prior to this she had worked as a carer in Nursing and Residential homes caring for the elderly. Initially she was employed as a community care worker in the Burton-on-Trent area. However, her professionalism has led to numerous promotions throughout the company. Today, Annette has achieved an NVQ level 4 in management, and is Service Manager for the North West Leicestershire area.

Mrs Marie Cumberland - Service Manager - Lichfield

Marie Cumberland has over 16 years’ experience of working in the care sector. Prior to working with Caring Hands, Marie gained care experience working in Residential and Nursing Homes. She joined Caring Hands as a Community Care Worker in 2005 progressing to Senior Area Coordinator in 2006. The following year she was offered promotion to an administrative position within the Caring Hands Office. During this time Marie was involved in all administrative aspects of managing care provision including preparing Care Worker rosters, dealing with the needs of both Service Users and Care Workers, liaising with Social Workers and other related professionals, financial administration etc. In May 2009 she covered maternity leave for the Burton Area Assistant Manager and was appointed Burton Manager in September 2009. Marie left Caring Hands in 2011 and returned in late 2013 to the position of manager’s assistant in Lichfield. In 2016 Marie took over the role as Service Manager in Tamworth.  Marie holds her NVQ3 in Social Care and Health and NVQ Level 4 in Management.

Mrs Sarah Gower - Burton Manager

Sarah joined Caring Hands in October 2013. Prior to this she had worked at Burton Hospital as a Health Care Assistant on the Stroke Ward and in Accident and Emergency. Sarah has a wealth of experience in caring for the elderly. Since joining Caring Hands, her knowledge, experience and competence have seen her promoted through the role of Coordinator to Manager.
